| Administrative History | In 1864, premises in Northgate Street, which included a brewery, were sold by the Eaton family to a partnership, which later traded as the Chester Northgate Brewery Company. The brewery closed in 1969 and the company was taken over by Greenall Whitley Ltd. The records mainly comprise debentures issued by the company in 1901-02 and transferred back to it in 1949. The Record Office also holds a photocopy of the company's minute book, 1877-81 (Z 37). See also DGB/6 |
